SRAM X.9 Rear Bicycle Derailleur

The  SRAM X.9 Rear Bicycle Derailleur  series is a great mid-range component gruppo. I had bashed up my old X9 in a crash and decided to get a new one. While not the least expensive, I think it really out-performs the X5 series and just as good as X.0 series except a few grams heavier. If I were to upgrade, I think I would just go Red series.

The Derailleur works wonderfully with the SRAM x9 shifter. Be aware that it is indexed at 1:1 and other shifters like Shimano probably aren't going to work. Besides, who wants different gruppos? The shifting is as tight and accurate as it can be. I know EXACTLY what gear I am in at all times and the flow across the gears is flawless. Adjustments are also straight forward and even a beginner could adjust this component with a little time and patience.

It's the best rear derailleur I have ever used, I have used it during more than 4 years and still working, just a bit lose by now, but I think it's normal after 4 years, riding like 3000 to 5000 km/year, I think it's more than decent quality. I use it with Sram PC971 chain (very solid) and XT crankset and cassette, which lasted a bit more than four years, rotating two chains to extend their life.

This Outdoor Men's Anatomic Relief Bicycle Mountain Bike Saddle VD-104 installed in 2 minutes on my lovely mountain bike. It looked great and felt good to sit on but, of course, the truth comes out only after a real ride.

Yesterday I slipped on some thinly padded Mongoose shorts and headed out into the Sonoran desert. I have  plan  to ride a few miles and see about the comfort, so I didn't even bother with sunscreen.I really surprised that this saddle so comfortable. This saddle is every bit as comfortable, at about 1/5 the cost.I have bought Cycling Bike Vader Road Saddle before and this sadle look like my last saddle.

I wound up riding 2 hours straight, including Granite Mountain and Chollo Mountain. There was absolutely no discomfort. Shocking! At 54, I'm no spring chicken.For my next ride, I am considering wearing normal shorts to see if I can do without padding altogether.In short, if you need a saddle and like the looks of this one, buy it now.
